Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Resurgence Pack to release on June 3rd for Xbox 360

The Resurgence Pack for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is due to hit the Xbox 360 in early June, while PC and PS3 dates are yet to be announced.  The new map pack will contain 5 new maps (not pictured above).  The first batch of 5 downloadable maps for CoD: MW2, Stimulus Pack, broke records when it was released at the end of March, with over 1 million players downloading the approximately $15 DLC in the first 24 hours of release. There is a very good chance that this…

Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood details emerge

I know I wasn’t the only one at rgbFilter who unsurprised, but still a little frustrated at the cliffhanger ending to Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed II.  Well, Ubi has come out with some news about the follow-up, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood.  The game continues Ezio’s story as a full-fledged Assassin, focusing on fighting the corruption in Rome,  around beginning of the 16th century… so no, not THAT corruption… Besides continuing Ezio’s story, the game will introduce a new multiplayer component.  Although the details are scarce, players will be able help the Assassins…

Rockstar releases Red Dead Redemption launch trailer

The more I see of this game, the more I can’t wait to play it! While there have been many attempts before to create a ‘Western’ themed game, none of them have pulled it off successfully, however this game, a ‘Grand Theft Auto in the Old West’, looks like it could change that. Early impressions of the game posted today at Kotaku are good, and it looks like this game will be a must buy for 360 and PS3 owners. Hopefully, like Rockstar San Diego’s other franchise Midnight Club, there…

Toronto Underground Cinema opening night event on May 14th

The Toronto Underground Cinema, formerly the Golden Classics Cinema, on 186 Spadina Ave, is having an opening night FREE double bill of Clue, and Big Trouble in Little China! This new cinema is run by former employees of the Bloor cinema, who left to open a theatre that focused more on ‘cult classics, seldom-seen treasures, popular favourites, and whatever else kicks cinematic ass.’ Opening night is Friday, May 14th, and will be celebrated with a double bill that highlights the Underground’s ethos: 7:00 — Clue (1985): Based on the Hasbro…

Alan Wake: Bright Falls part 4

With less than a week until the release of Remedy Entertainment’s Alan Wake for the Xbox 360, now is a good time to point out that the live action prequel ‘Bright Falls‘, part 4 of 7, has been released. The latest episode keeps up with the twisted atmosphere. I hope the game can maintain that atmosphere. Meanwhile, over at the Remedy forums, one of their writers, Mikko Rautalahti has posted his take on the pre-release reviews so far… Yeah, we don’t really look at the Metascore all that much. It’d…

Mobilicity coming in June, with unlimited plan

According to the Globe and Mail, Mobilicity will be launching in Toronto at some point in June, and along with it an unlimited plan at a flat $65, which will include long-distance and data.  There is no actual confirmation of this, but it does seem like a likely time to launch. “We’ve been very tight-lipped about our launch date for very specific reasons. It’s a very competitive market out there,” Mr. Dobbin said. “However, we are measuring time to launch in weeks and days, not months any more.” Dave Dobbin,…

If Mario Was Designed in 2010

If Mario was first designed in 2010, he’d probably have to adopt some of our modern trends… Game designer Zack Hiwiller recently posted on his blog a series of screenshots of what Super Mario Bros. would be like if it was made today. His observations are spot on but, obviously, from the note he added, there are other game designers who might feel a bit ‘uncomfortable’ looking at his post: While this post is meant to be humorous, it isn’t meant to be humorous at the expense of my fellow…

Forza 3 Exotic Car pack available

If you’re a racing game fan, and have a 360, you’re doing yourself a disservice if you haven’t already picked up Forza 3.  It’s one of the few racing games I actually enjoy on any console (Pole Position on Colecovision not withstanding).  That being said, a new pack of 10 exotic cars have been made available on Xbox Live, for 400 points, which amounts to about $5.  To be honest, I know so little about exotic cars that I THINK I’ve heard of one or two from the list, which…

Steam for Mac coming Wednesday, as in tomorrow

It looks like Steam for Mac WILL start rolling out tomorrow, maybe even the real tomorrow, not the Valve Time equivalent, (generally meaning later this week).  With tomorrow’s launch will be the Mac version of Portal, plus the top-down dungeon crawler Torchlight, from Runic Games. It’s also interesting to note that although Team Fortress 2 is listed in the Steam for Mac beta software, and that it’s the graphic Valve has put in an iMac (above), it’s not listed in the initial batch of games to be released.  We’ll just…

Project Natal getting October release? Maybe… [UPDATED]

Though Microsoft’s full body controller system for the Xbox 360 has long been slated to come out sometime around the 2010 holidays, it’s now looking like October will be the month, though we can expect more details during E3 in June.  This tidbit was dropped by Microsoft’s marketing manager for Saudi Arabia, Syed Bilal Tariq… “is going to be somewhere in October and we will be in a position to confirm the date at E3, which is in June, but definitely it is going to be October 2010.” From GamerTagRadio…

Legendary fantasy artist Frank Frazetta passes away at 82

According to Comic Book Resources, fantasy artist Frank Frazetta has passed away at the age of 82. Frazetta’s artwork has graced album covers (including three Molly Hatchet covers), comics, movie posters and book covers over a decades long career. His single most recognizable work is probably that of The Death Dealer, a grim dark figure perched on an equally foreboding horse, which was used for Molly Hatchet’s eponymous debut album. What I personally found appealing about Frazetta’s work is that he eschewed the conventional fantasy/science fiction wisdom of hyper-realism, ornate…

rgbfilter @ TCAF 2010: Day 2 Photos

On Day 2 we returned to Toronto Comics Arts Festival to talk to some more of the very talented writers and artists in attendance. We managed to get interviews with some great webcomic artists, like Ryan North, creator of Dinosaur Comics, Emily Horne and Joey Comeau of a softer world, Brandon Bird, and David Malki of Wondermark. We also talked to Jim Munroe, of nomediakings, writer of the ‘post-Rapture graphic novel’ Sword of My Mouth. Lastly, in a bizarro finale to the show, Alex interviewed Evan Dorkin, creator of Hectic…
