Nexus One is the HTC Passion, Wind compatible, $530 unlocked, coming in January

Today documents and screenshots leaked out to Gizmodo and Engadget showing some Google pages, and HTC training materials, for the Nexus One Google phone. The HTC documents are also clearly labelled as for the HTC Passion, so these phones are one and the same. The HTC documents show that the Passion is HTC internal name for the Nexus One, but it is not clear whether HTC will sell it as the Passion in other markets outside North America. OnLive demoed at Columbia University, looks promising

Gamertag Radio recently posted a 48 minute demonstration of OnLive, the cloud gaming platform that many claim is just smoke and mirrors, recorded at a lecture at Columbia University. Yesterday, the newly minted Wind Mobile officially launched in Toronto, bringing with it a bit of a shake up in the Canadian wireless carrier space.  They’ll also be launching in Calgary tomorrow.  A few of the key differences between them and the incumbents: No contracts – you buy your device outright, and you’re not locked in.  They currently only have 4 devices, but hope to expand that line up soon. Communications Union want to stop Wind Mobile

Last week, Industry Minister Tony Clement stayed the CRTC decision preventing Globalive from launching Wind Mobile in Canada. As a mobile consumer, this is a good thing, even though it does raise the question of foreign ownership rule in the Canadian telecommunications industry. Mozilla exec recommends Bing for search

Asa Dotzler, Mozilla’s director of community development watched Google’s CEO Eric Schmidt talk about privacy concerns in a CNBC interview, and was compelled to respond with recommending Microsoft’s Bing as the search engine of choice for Mozilla’s Firefox.  This is what Schmidt said… “I think judgment matters… If you have something that you don’t want anyone to know, maybe you shouldn’t be doing it in the first place. CRTC overruled, Globalive given OK to launch Wind Mobile in Canada

It’s been a while coming, especially if you’re a Wind Mobile employee, but Industry Canada has overruled a CRTC decision that prevented the new wireless carrier from launching in the country.
