A Visual Guide To Real-Time Strategy

Continuing their great series of infographics, Kotaku posted their latest visual guide to coincide with the launch of StarCraft II. The RTS, or Real-Time Strategy game, has long been a staple genre of PC gaming, and while there have been some console RTS’s, very few of them have been successful. The release of StarCraft II, and its success so far, both critically and commercially, reinforces the fact that the PC has never really gone away as a gaming platform, it’s just lain low for a while. It is only fitting…

Samsung Galaxy S coming to Telus too?

UPDATE – According to MobileSyrup, the Telus Galaxy in question is actually going to be the mid-range Galaxy Apollo. Hopes dashed. When Samsung announced the launch in Canada of the Galaxy S ‘Superphone’, on Bell, they also said that “Canadian consumers can anticipate the release of additional Galaxy S smartphones throughout the rest of 2010.” Well, it looks like Telus might be the first carrier to have one of these ‘additional’ Galaxy S phones. On Howard Forums, one of the internet’s best discussion groups for phone geeks, the image above…

A Life Well Wasted, gaming radio done right

A Life Well Wasted is the brainchild of former Computer Gaming World, Game for Windows Magazine contributor, and member of the legendary 1up GFW Radio podcast (you can find a ‘best of’ here), Robert Ashley. After the demise of the ‘old’ 1up, and the end of GFW Radio, he decided to continue keep that show’s legacy and high-standards, alive by producing his own podcast. However, unlike GFW Radio, A Life Well Wasted is not a roundtable discussion style show, but more akin to the kind of radio shows found on…

Scott Pilgrim Launch Party report and pictures

On Monday night we attended the Scott Pilgrim’s Finest Hour (vol.6) Launch Party, and while I knew that the comic was popular, I didn’t expect to see so many people crowding Markham Street, waiting for the book, and their hero, Bryan Lee O’Malley to sign it. If you are not too familiar with Scott Pilgrim, it is a manga inspired-comic set in Toronto, starring the titular Scott Pilgrim and his efforts to win, and keep, his dream girl, Ramona Flowers by battling her seven ‘evil exes’. Since the first issue…

Telus officially announces the HTC Desire Android smartphone

Though Canada often seems a step or two behind in getting the latest and greatest smart phones, we’ve recently seen what could be called Superphones (you know, large high-res screens and 1GHz + processors) hitting our shores. Rogers is already carrying the X10 Bell has announced the Galaxy S.  Beyond Android, the iPhone 4 will clearly be in this category when released in Canada.  [ED Note: I’d put the Acer Liquid E in there as well, given its specs]. The latest announcement, from Telus, is that the HTC Desire will…

Inception prequel comic online – The Cobol Job

Even though I read about this ‘prequel’ comic before I saw Inception (twice!) this weekend I didn’t read it immediately. You see I was attempting a media blackout of all information about the movie, so I would go into the theater knowing as little as possible about the film. After seeing the film, I can tell you that the comic spoils nothing, especially if you have already seen some the trailers, and know a little about the film’s premise. The comics is written by Jordan Goldberg, one of the co-producers…
