Indie Fund wants to help bring your game to market
The Indie Fund has been established by seven notable indie game developers, including (but not limited to) Braid creator Johnathan Blow, Ron Carmel and Kyle Gabler of World Of Goo fame as well as thatgamecompany co-founder Kellee Santiago. Their goal is to help the funding of independent game development by support projects financially. If you have a game at the prototype stage, and a video to go along with it, you can apply for funding right now.
They’re certainly not looking to fund multi-million dollar Halo or Grand Theft Auto clones, and their terms are actually really good…
World of Goo cost $120k to develop. Braid cost $180k. That’s about the right size project for Indie Fund right now, and it necessitates doing things on the cheap. The benefit to you is that you’ll get to keep the vast majority of the revenue once the investment is repaid and you will maintain 100% control over your IP.
Even if you’re not a game developer, go back to the first paragraph and try some of the games mentioned, they’re all excellent. Of course, if you can’t install games, you can play flOw right in your browser. I take no responsibility for a drop in productivity.
