Halo: Reach release date announced

Now that the beta for Halo: Reach has run its course, Bungie has announced that the full game will be coming out September 14, 2010. I wouldn’t be surprised if Bungie collected a LOT of debugging information during the beta, either. In less than 3 weeks, the beta run saw over 2.7 million users log 16 million hours and 1.1 billion kills. That’s over a kill a minute, if you’re curious. “It’s exceeded our expectations,” said Bungie Studios community director Brian Jarrard. “Our only real perspective going into this was…

Fable III adds Windows to its world

It seems there’s a lot of news coming out of Peter Molyneux and Lionhead Studios regarding Fable III recently. The latest is that Fable III will be available not only on the Xbox 360, but the PC as well. On the 360 there will be both a standard and the limited edition for the hardcore fans of the franchise. On the PC, it will be available both at retail and as a download via the awkwardly named Games on Demand on Games for Windows – LIVE. I’m not knocking the…

Alan Wake review

Alan Wake, the new thriller game from Remedy exclusively on the Xbox 360, has been a long time in the making.  In fact, the last game Remedy put out was the classic 3rd person shooter Max Payne 2, a good seven years ago.  This time around, the focus is less on all out action and more on giving the viewer (erm – the player) the creeps.  Does it pay off?

Fable III Production Diary 2

As Fable fans await the third installment, Lionhead Studios has started putting out production diaries in video format to give gamers an idea of the changes in store for the franchise.  This time out we get a sneak peak at the newly streamlined interface, as lead designer Peter Molyneux has said that one of the goals of Fable III is to bring it more into the action-adventure realm, without totally discarding the RPG interface. One thing that certainly appears to be improved is the world map, which is now a…

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Resurgence Pack to release on June 3rd for Xbox 360

The Resurgence Pack for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is due to hit the Xbox 360 in early June, while PC and PS3 dates are yet to be announced.  The new map pack will contain 5 new maps (not pictured above).  The first batch of 5 downloadable maps for CoD: MW2, Stimulus Pack, broke records when it was released at the end of March, with over 1 million players downloading the approximately $15 DLC in the first 24 hours of release. There is a very good chance that this…

Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood details emerge

I know I wasn’t the only one at rgbFilter who unsurprised, but still a little frustrated at the cliffhanger ending to Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed II.  Well, Ubi has come out with some news about the follow-up, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood.  The game continues Ezio’s story as a full-fledged Assassin, focusing on fighting the corruption in Rome,  around beginning of the 16th century… so no, not THAT corruption… Besides continuing Ezio’s story, the game will introduce a new multiplayer component.  Although the details are scarce, players will be able help the Assassins…

Rockstar releases Red Dead Redemption launch trailer

The more I see of this game, the more I can’t wait to play it! While there have been many attempts before to create a ‘Western’ themed game, none of them have pulled it off successfully, however this game, a ‘Grand Theft Auto in the Old West’, looks like it could change that. Early impressions of the game posted today at Kotaku are good, and it looks like this game will be a must buy for 360 and PS3 owners. Hopefully, like Rockstar San Diego’s other franchise Midnight Club, there…

Alan Wake: Bright Falls part 4

With less than a week until the release of Remedy Entertainment’s Alan Wake for the Xbox 360, now is a good time to point out that the live action prequel ‘Bright Falls‘, part 4 of 7, has been released. The latest episode keeps up with the twisted atmosphere. I hope the game can maintain that atmosphere. Meanwhile, over at the Remedy forums, one of their writers, Mikko Rautalahti has posted his take on the pre-release reviews so far… Yeah, we don’t really look at the Metascore all that much. It’d…

Forza 3 Exotic Car pack available

If you’re a racing game fan, and have a 360, you’re doing yourself a disservice if you haven’t already picked up Forza 3.  It’s one of the few racing games I actually enjoy on any console (Pole Position on Colecovision not withstanding).  That being said, a new pack of 10 exotic cars have been made available on Xbox Live, for 400 points, which amounts to about $5.  To be honest, I know so little about exotic cars that I THINK I’ve heard of one or two from the list, which…

Project Natal getting October release? Maybe… [UPDATED]

Though Microsoft’s full body controller system for the Xbox 360 has long been slated to come out sometime around the 2010 holidays, it’s now looking like October will be the month, though we can expect more details during E3 in June.  This tidbit was dropped by Microsoft’s marketing manager for Saudi Arabia, Syed Bilal Tariq… “is going to be somewhere in October and we will be in a position to confirm the date at E3, which is in June, but definitely it is going to be October 2010.” From GamerTagRadio…

Halo: Reach beta impressions

The mulitplayer beta Halo: Reach, available for free to Halo 3: ODST owners, was released yesterday. If the beta is any indication, Bungie’s last installment of the franchise is going to be a high point.  I’ve always enjoyed the Halo series, but mainly for the single player experience.  Every game in the Halo franchise has had good multiplayer, which is a large reason why it’s been successful for so long. Last night, after playing Reach for much longer than I expected to, I have to say that this is the…

Telus bringing IPTV to Xbox 360 in Canada

If the source over at gamefocus.ca is right, it looks like Telus will be bringing an IPTV solution to Canadian Xbox 360 users, which is currently being tested and should hit the market in 2011.  Other than finding out that it’s Telus, as opposed to Bell or Rogers, there’s not too much new to see.  It doesn’t sound like the 360 would be used to do the recording.  Instead, the Telus TV HD PVR would handle the recording, and the 360 would be used as an interface for one of…
