Toshiba has now joined the Intel Sandy Bridge processor bandwagon, after it fell by the wayside for a while due to Intel’s little chipset boo-boo earlier this year. The new R800 series is an update to both the ultra-portable Portege series, and the thin and light Tecra series business class notebooks. When a review unit of the Toshiba A660-042 arrived at the studio, I wasn’t sure what to make of it. Gateway has just announced the ID Series of notebooks, with silver shells and a funky blue touchpad that glows when touched. The silver casing actually appears to be quite understated in the provided photos. The 3 models all sport Ultrabright LED-backlit displays, and vary in size from 14 to 17.3 inches.
