Toronto braces for a TROMA-tic experience as Lloyd Kaufman comes to town.
All right everybody, drop your tacos or I’ll blow your brains out.
Hot off the wire from our friends over at the After Dark Film Festival:
Legendary cult horror filmmaker Lloyd Kaufman, who presented the hysterical zombie chicken musical POULTRYGEIST at Toronto After Dark Film Festival last year, returns to the city this weekend with a rare 35mm film print screening of his breakthrough cult classic film THE TOXIC AVENGER!
The screening is tomorrow night (Saturday, Dec 6, 9PM) at the Bloor Cinema, 506 Bloor Street West and will be part of a double bill with another Troma films splatterpiece CANNIBAL:THE MUSICAL, from the same twisted minds that gave you SOUTH PARK, screening straight after at 11.45pm.
Tickets are $10 for one film, or $17 for both, available at the door of the theatre. Troma films Lloyd Kaufman will be on hand to not only introduce the TOXIC AVENGER but host a Q&A afterwards!
Kaufman is a cult hero who is most famous for the Toxic Avenger series started in 1984, which spawned a series of sequels. He rivals Roger Corman for the title of the Best of the Bad, churning out instant classics like 1986’s “The Class of Nuke ‘Em High” and 2004’s “Tales from the Crapper.”
If you’re a cult horror fan on any level, you owe it to yourself to drop the $17 and take in the whole double feature.
Also, if you’re a true Kaufman fan, drop by Rok Boutique tonight and catch SACRED FLESH, An Evening of Tattoo Culture, Rock & Roll, Troma Films, and Sinful Pleasures, where Kaufman will be the evening’s MC. Tix are $10 at the door.
It promises to be a weekend full of cheesy gory goodness.
Full details are available here for the movies, and here for the Rok Boutique event..

I saw Poultrygeist at the festival last year, and it was Troma at its finest.
