Globalive leaked phone plans… AKA was Alex right about blurry cam conspiracies

A poster over at Howard Forums, one of the biggest message boards for all things mobile phones, has leaked a number of stills, plus the planned rates for emerging new Canadian wireless carrier Globalive, who bought up a lot of spectrum in the Canadian airwaves auctions not to long ago.  The poster claims that he’s doing this because he was let go from the company, but I’ll get to that in a paragraph..

Among the details? Globalive will be carrying some high end fare, such as the HTC G1 and HTC Magic Android phones, Sony’s Experia WinMo phone and the new grown up Sidekick LX 2009. Their voice and data plans are real competition to the the current big carriers Rogers, Telus and Bell as well, and they’ll be rocking the 7.2Mbps HSDPA network.

What makes this more interesting is the timing, as it was less than two weeks ago that Rogers announced that it was bringing Android to Canada with the HTC G1. Although I don’t doubt the information posted at Howard Forums, the user who posted the information only registered to post the details which smells much more like a deliberate leak from the company as opposed to a disgruntled employee.

This ties nicely into Alex’s discussion of ‘blurry cam conspiracies’ from episode 15 of rgbFilter.

  1. I was on the fence until that line in the CEO’s blog post rebuttal: “That being said, what do you think about the plans being discussed on Howardforums”.

    LAME

    1. I think it was obvious before the ‘official rebuttal’. Beyond that, I took a look at the pricing, and although it’s decent, it’s not mind blowing. Promising 10Mb HSDPA is nice though.

no the plans aren’t mind blowing cheaper than Rogers et al, but they are better for sure and over a 12 month period they will put money in your pocket – perfect for jailbroken unlocked iphone users to switch to

    1. Unshackling one’s phone is always a good thing. 😀

Sadly, if you’re on Rogers and own an iPhone 3G, then you still have 2 years left on your 3 year contract…so no GlobalLive for you. By which I mean me.

from what i read on the forums you cant use unlocked phones on their service anyways

          1. There’s always a workaround for the unlocking community.

              true

anywhoo its a non starter for me for obvious reasons

they have to get a roaming deal in quebec because to have a service that is a deadzone in the nations second largest market is a problem

  3. Johnathan Leger

    this grabbed my attention

    “Unlimited SMS (Canada and USA)”

i think thats a first for canada… i could be wrong

the best deal fido offers is “250 Intl & U.S Text Messaging 10.00 ”

i hope this makes the other carriers get their shit together

    1. I think you’re right. For heavy TXTrs, that’s not a bad deal compared to the old boys.

  4. Johnathan Leger

bah no service in quebec… videotron cockblocked them im sure

  5. Johnathan Leger

so you cant use unlocked phones?

    no ROAMING in quebec even
