Transformers: War for Cybertron is the Transformers video game you might actually WANT to play
Not since Hot Rod opened up the Matrix of leadership to the haunting tune of “You Got the Touch” have I been so moved by anything Transformers related.
It’s not because I’m some kind of callow emotionless jerk-bot. It’s because anything transformers-related since 1986 has, um, sucked.
But the Transformers: War for Cybertron game trailer looks like it wants to buck that trend.
Featuring the voice of Peter Cullen and some cameo appearances by what appears to be Omega Supreme, the trailer appears to ramp up the battle scenes in what they’re calling a Transformers origin story. At least, that’s what I got from a Google search; going to the actual site proved to be an exercise in frustration, with irritating navigation and weird never-gonna-happen future tech style that has Michael Bay’s stink all over it.
Though no gameplay is featured Matt Tieger, Game Director of High Moon Studios, assures us that it’s a 3rd person shooter based on the Unreal platform.
Lots of people have compared this game to Gears of War. Tieger has something to say about that as well:
1 – We are not a cover-based shooter (you think Megatron would take cover?), 2 – Transform anywhere, 3 – Special abilities add an additional layer of strategic depth, 4 – finally, Transformers has always been a team based property and each character has unique abilities so teamwork becomes pivotal. NONE of this should take away from the awesomeness that is Gears, honestly if gamers compare us positively to one of the all-time best games ever, I am thrilled!
Alrighty, then. No release date is set yet for the game, but if rumours are to be believed, you get your mitts on this piece of Autobotorotica by June 22, 2010.
Alright me hard now
I’m only semi-there…I’ll save my rager for when I see some gameplay.
What’s up to every one, since I am really keen of reading this weblog’s post to be updated daily. It includes nice stuff.
