For a good eight years now, Free Comic Book Day has become an early May tradition, where comic book retailers promote the event and hand out copies of comic books to customers, which has unsurprisingly become a hit. You can see the North America wide list of artist signings at FreeComicBookDay.com
This year,Greg Dunford, writer of Hard Drive and friend of the show has organized a Free Comic Day Comic Crawl [Facebook event] through Toronto, with a number of notable guests from fandom. If you know of events going down in other cities, post them in the comments.

Free Comic Book Day Crawl – [Facebook event]
An adventure awaits! Join us in the thrilling journey through Toronto’s mean streets to the best comic shops the city has to offer!
Free Comic Book Day means free comics and toys and fantastic local artists to meet and interact with.
Costumed characters will be on location and fun will be had by all!

While details of events at stores are a closely guarded secret, our basic itinerary is as follows:
9:30 Meet at the Second Cup at 307 Queen Street West for a morning coffee and rally point.
10:00 Silver Snail doors open. Silver Snail is the poptastic center of Queen West’s comic book scene!
11:00 Exit the Snail and head up to Dragonlady Comics for 50% off of everything except Graphic Novels (which are at US cover price) – great chance for people to take advantage of their truly frightening amount of backstock.
12:00 Lunch in Little Italy!
1:00 Head north to Mirvish Village to visit the Beguiling, the indie comic gurus of Toronto. Get information about the following weekend’s Toronto Comic Arts Festival!
2:00 Trek up to Paradise Comics at Yonge and Lawrence.
In attendance will be:
LEONARD KIRK who joins New Mutants in July, coming off his work on Dark X-Men to draw the team of young X-graduates with writer Zeb Wells.
TY TEMPLETON: Currently, Ty is writing IDW’s Star Trek comic book, working for Bongo, DC, Marvel and others, as well as teaching at the Toronto Cartoonists Workshop.
RICHARD ISANOVE: His distinctive coloring on the Wolverine: Origin series marked a new direction in coloring in the comics medium.It was soon followed by the Blockbuster Stephen King’s The Dark Tower series of comics.
HILARY LEUNG: Hilary Leung is a designer by day, illustrator by night and ultimate player on weekends. Having spent the last five years pursuing other dreams, he is happy to return to his first true love – drawing
The Legend of Ninja Cowboy Bear is an illustrated children’s story about three friends who discover an important truth about equality and how to appreciate one another.

LIANA K: She has been called “Canada’s Ultimate Fangirl” by the Edmonton Journal, is a prominent voice in the world of all things geeky. She was the “Red” half of Ed & Red’s Night Party!, Canada’s longest running comedy series, she co-hosts a talk radio show on Toronto’s CFRB, and writes feature articles for www.gamingexcellence.com.
