Apple announces Canadian iPad date, Bell joins Rogers in confirming ‘support’
Apple finally announced on Friday exactly when the iPad will be available internationally. It will hit Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the UK on May 28th, and will be up for pre-order on May 10th. Both the Wi-Fi and 3G models will be available on that date, and the Canadian prices are as follows:
Suggested retail price of $549 (CAN) for 16GB, $649 (CAN) for 32GB, $749 (CAN) for 64GB for Wi-Fi models and $679 (CAN) for 16GB, $779 (CAN) for 32GB and $879 (CAN) for 64GB for Wi-Fi + 3G models. iPad will be sold through the Apple Store, Apple’s retail stores and select Apple Authorized Resellers. The iBooks app for iPad including Apple’s iBookstore will be available as a free download from the App Store on May 28.
A few weeks ago, Rogers announced that they would support the iPad on their network, and they updated their Redboard blog on Friday with a link to a sign-up page for more iPad info – http://www.rogers.com/iPad. Bell also announced, on the official Bell PR twitter, that the “iPad [is] to be supported by [the] Bell Mobility network”.
Now, while both Rogers and Bell have said they would support the iPad, it would also be useful if they went ahead and released the actual price plans before Monday in order for potential iPad purchasers to make an informed decision on whether to pre-order a Wi-Fi or 3G model.
There is still no word yet from Telus whether or not they will support the iPad, but it’s more than likely that they will.
