NXNE daily dispatch
There’s so much to see at NXNE that it’s hard to pick and choose, so here’s a daily look at what’s happening. Starting with the free stuff, NXPO is a free-to-the-public music-lifestyle exposition which includes a daystage, vendors, and a bar, the latter not free, is open the 17th and 18th from noon to 8pm at the Hyatt Regency Toronto – 370 King St. W.
The free Yonge-Dundas Square shows start at 6pm today, and include headliners Mudhoney at 9pm, and So-Cal punk legends X at 10pm.
NXNE Conference:
“FM USA” Music Meeting
This panel offers insight into the inner workings of America’s most influential radio programs and explains how top radio programmers put together their playlists.
Hyatt Regency Toronto: Regency C – 370 King St. W
2:30 p.m.
NXNE Film:
This Movie is Broken [Canadian Premiere]
From Bruce McDonald, director of Hard Core Logo, one of the best rock and roll movies of all time, comes a film that weaves romantic narrative with concert footage featuring Broken Social Scene.
Royal Cinema – 608 College St. W
7:30 p.m.
NXNE Music:
CBC Radio 2 Presents
The Rivoli – 332 Queen St. W
Featuring: Chris Velan, Zeus, Buck 65, Grand Analog and the Kate Rogers Band
Performances start: 9 p.m.
My Pick: It’ll be a tight squeeze timing it, but go see This Movie Is Broken, then streetcar over to Yonge-Dundas Square just in time to catch X.
