Netflix in Canada fall 2010
When it comes to digital content distribution, the United States has had a huge jump on other countries, largely because most of the big distributors have all been US companies. When Netflix first started out, it was a DVD subscription service, but they quickly embraced the digital distribution via subscription model. This has made the company the go-to service for not only movies but television distributed online.
After years of expecting a Canadian company would pick up the ball, it appears that Netflix itself has managed to wrangle a deal to provide its services here. A year ago, almost to the day, Zip.ca announced their intentions, but nothing panned out. Although the netflix.ca page is pretty much devoid of anything but an email notification form an a ‘Coming this fall’ graphic, it’s certainly good news for those looking to make use of a well-stocked, cost-effective digital media distributor. There’s no word on exact pricing or availability as of this writing, but fall sounds good to me.
