Gateway launches new LT32 and LT22 Netbooks in Canada
Gateway, the sister company of the world’s number 2 PC maker Acer, has just announced two new netbooks, the LT32 & LT22. Both these machines sport single-core AMD Neo processors, which are more powerful but more power hungry than the Intel Atom CPU’s found in most netbooks. This additional horsepower, with the addition of ATI Radeon 4225 graphics and an HDMI port, allow these ‘Premium Netbooks’ to server as portable HD entertainment centres – they both should have no problem outputting 720p video to any HDTV (however we can’t comfortably say that they can output 1080p smoothly without testing them first).
Like the rest of Gateway’s new notebook like, such as the NV5 and ID series, the LT netbooks feature a dedicated ‘social networking’ button that launches popular social networking sites, such as Facebook, YouTube and Flickr. As Doug mentioned, in his post about the NV series, Twitter is not included for some reason, so once we go hands-on we’ll have to look into whether it can be added.
The matte blue LT32 has an AMD Athlon II Neo K125 CPU, 3GB of RAM, a 16:9 11.6 inch screen (1366 x 768), 320GB hard drive, Wireless N, HDMI out, integrated HD webcam, multi-touch touchpad, Windows 7 Home Premium, up to 5.5 hours of battery life, and retails for $449.99.
The matte brown LT22 has the same CPU, 1GB of RAM, with a 16:9 10.6 inch screen (1024×600), 250GB hard drive, Wireless N, HDMI out, integrated HD webcam, multi-touch touchpad, Windows 7 Starter, up to 6.5 hours of battery life, and retails for $349.99.
Both these computers look to be excellent value for money and a step up from the average netbook. If you are in the market for a new ultra-portable I would take a good look at them, especially the LT32, which strikes a good balance between price and specs.

Like the rest of Gateway’s new notebook and netbook lines, the new Gateway LT32 and LT22 Series feature dedicated “social networking,” accessed through a dedicated key to launch today’s most popular social networking sites – Facebook, YouTube and Flickr. With it, customers have a constant connection that is easy to access and will help them stay up-to-date with contacts on news and the latest posts.
Enjoyable to Use, Stylish Designs
The Gateway LT32 and LT22 netbooks give customers a boost in productivity with the multi-gesture touchpad that lets customers intuitively move through their applications and digital media. For example, customers can make a pinching motion to zoom in and out on documents, photos and websites, and a flipping motion to move quickly through photos, web pages and PDF documents.
The Gateway LT32 netbook’s look is sleek and modern, and features a matte chassis blue cover that resists fingerprints with a wave pattern that is subtle yet distinctive. The Gateway LT22 comes in a streamlined design in either matte silver or brown covering a subtle honeycomb chassis design.
