The Hand Eye Society wants your game on a cabinet
With the success of TOJam, and of the Hand Eye Society’s Torontron arcade cabinet chalk full of indie games from local developers, it’s only a small surprise that they’re making more cabinets, and they’ve put out a call for more games to fill them up. More specifically, there will be 3 cabinets with different control schemes, and they want to highlight some of the best of the Toronto indie scene in high traffic areas like the TIFF Bell Lightbox and the offices of the OMDC.
The cabinets in question will be:
- Torontron Classic: one eight-way joystick and a button
- Mousey McTrackball: a trackball with two buttons
- The 2UP: two eight-way joysticks with two buttons apiece
The addition of cabinets with different control schemes means that there will be more room for game diversity, as Mousey McTrackball will support games with mouse input, and 2UP means that multiplayer action will also be available. Of course, it’s possible that someone could also do a Robotron game, and that wouldn’t be so bad either. The guts of the cabinets are basically 3GHz Pentium 4 class machines with ‘okay’ graphic cards, according to the Hand Eye Society.
If you’re a Toronto area game developer, you have until September 15th 2010 to submit your game for approval. You can get more details at the Hand Eye Society website.
