Left 4 Dead 2: November 17
From the category of “out of left field” during E3 week, is the announcement by Valve that they’re coming out with a sequel for their hit slaughterfest Left 4 Dead. After all the first one was just released last year, and Valve has a great reputation for supporting games for years with free updates.
So, is this a quick cash grab, or something more?
Here’s a brief rundown of what to expect:
Introducing the AI Director 2.0, L4D’s dynamic gameplay is taken to the next level by giving the Director the ability to procedurally change weather effects, world objects, and pathways in addition to tailoring the enemy population, effects, and sounds to match the players’ performance. The result is a unique game session custom fitted to provide a satisfying and uniquely challenging experience each time the game is played.
Featuring new Survivors, boss zombies, weapons, and items, Left 4 Dead 2 offers a much larger game than the original with more co-operative campaigns, more Versus campaigns, and maps for Survival mode available at launch.
Ultimately all this sounds good, and when Valve is saying that this upgrade is more than just a patch, I’ll take their word. After all, they’ve delivered the best video game entertainment bang-for-buck ratio for years now, unless you’re addicted to Popcap Games like Peggle (not that there’s anything wrong with that).
Without further ado, the teaser trailer for Left 4 Dead 2: Electric Boogaloo …
I know they were trying to do some sort of Saw-ish “Left 4 Dead 2” thing up there as a play on the original image of the clawed hand, but I’d love it if the V-sign was intentional. Sort of like the zombies are saying, “F*ck you! We’re back!”
Sometimes I just love me some sweet, sweet swears.
Since the palm is facing away, you could always go the Brit route and treat it as a good “Piss Off” to the survivors. 🙂
EXACTLY! 🙂
